Da Vinci Surgery
Da Vinci Surgery
The da Vinci® Surgical System enables surgeons to perform operations through a few small incisions and features several key features, including:
*Magnified vision system that gives surgeons a 3D HD view inside the patient’s body
*Ergonomically designed console where the surgeon sits while operating
*Patient-side cart where the patient is positioned during surgery
*Wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand
da Vinci® Hysterectomy (Benign)
The da Vinci System enables your surgeon to operate through a few small incisions, like traditional laparoscopy, instead of a large open incision. Surgeons can also operate through a small incision in your belly button (Single-Site® technology* for non-cancerous conditions). The da Vinci System is a robotic-assisted surgical device that your surgeon is 100% in control of at all times.
da Vinci ® Endometriosis Resection
Endometriosis happens when tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus (endometrium) grows into areas outside the uterus. It can cause mild to severe pain, among other symptoms.
If your doctor suggests surgery, there are two common options: open surgery through one large incision and minimally invasive surgery through a few small incisions using traditional laparoscopy or da Vinci® Surgery (da Vinci Endometriosis Resection or a da Vinci Hysterectomy).
da Vinci® Myomectomy (Fibroid Removal)
If you are having surgery to remove fibroids (commonly known as myomectomy), your doctor will take out the fibroid(s) and keep your uterus in place.
Surgery can be performed using open surgery or minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy), which also includes da Vinci® Surgery.
Why da Vinci Surgery?
With the da Vinci System enables your surgeon to operate through a few small incisions (cuts) – like traditional laparoscopy – instead of a large open incision.
The da Vinci System is a robotic-assisted surgical device that your surgeon is 100% in control of at all times. The da Vinci System gives surgeons:
* 3D HD view inside your body
* Wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand
* Enhanced vision, precision and control
Early Clinical Data Suggests:
As a result of this technology, da Vinci Endometriosis Resection Resection (removal of all visible implants) offers the following potential benefits compared to open surgery:
Surgeons are able to perform technically difficult dissection
Low rate of complications
Low blood loss and low likelihood for transfusion
Low rate of surgeon switching to open surgery
As a result of this technology, da Vinci Endometriosis Resection offers the following potential benefits compared to traditional laparoscopy*:
Higher rate of confirmed endometriosis from biopsy
Low blood loss
Low rate of surgeon switching to open surgery
The da Vinci System has brought minimally invasive surgery to more than 3 million patients worldwide. da Vinci technology – changing the experience of surgery for people around the world.
Risks & Considerations Related to Endometriosis Resection (endometriosis surgery to remove implants): injury to the bowel, bladder (organ that holds urine) or ureters (ureters drain urine from the kidney into the bladder).
